Artguise was established in the summer of 1997 as a way to bring something different to Ottawa. The founders knew what clients wanted and decided they could offer more than the usual fare

Their philosophy is a simple one, “for artists, by artists”. Artguise is run by working artists and supplies the best in quality and alternative name brand materials to working artists. They are an art supply store owned and operated by working artists with professional knowledge and expertise which is offered to the clients. A good selection of traditional materials from old world sources is available for the knowledgeable artist and craftsperson, filling a specialty niche market in this area.

The gallery sponsors eleven solo shows each year as well as annual “Under 590” show each December. A mix of traditional work as well as art that pushes the boundaries and asks the viewer to look at things a bit differently. Proudly showcasing new and emerging artists while striving to bring something a little different to the city.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting and allows the viewer to feel as though they are part of the experience, not outside of it.

As well as art, you can find high quality art supplies and materials for all your creative needs. Artguise is owned and operated by Jason Vaughan and Brandon McVittie. As working artists, extensive knowledge of the materials allows for great advice based on real experience.
